Lockheed Martin has secured a development contract to provide advanced electronic warfare surveillance and countermeasure capabilities for the US Navy’s MH-60 helicopter fleet against anti-ship missile (ASM) threats.
The enhanced advanced off-board electronic warfare (AOEW) active mission payload (AMP) AN/ALQ-248 system is a self-contained electronic warfare (EW) pod, hosted on a MH-60R or MH-60S helicopter.
The new electronic warfare solution system is designed to enhance US Navy’s ASM detection and response capabilities.
Lockheed Martin electronic warfare programme director Joe Ottaviano said: “Every day ships across the world are facing a variety of evolving threats.
“Our advanced off-board electronic warfare AMP AN/ALQ-248 system will help create a coordinated attack against these threats, to keep our warfighters safe by controlling the electromagnetic spectrum and disrupting adversaries.” Read more
