Milford, New Hampshire [18 June 2019]— The Georgia Institute of Technology’s (GT) Office of Development has selected Melinda Tourangeau, President and CEO of Warrior Support Solutions, LLC, to be its next appointed at-large member to the Georgia Tech Advisory Board (GTAB).

“It is an honor to be selected for this position, one that gives me an opportunity to influence the destiny of the entire institute,” remarked Melinda Tourangeau, upon learning of her appointment. Melinda has always dreamed of doing something special for the school since graduating from Tech with a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering (B.E.E. ’88). This appointment can enable her to fulfill that calling.

GTAB is a group of senior leaders who serve as a source of strategic vision and as a sounding board for GT’s president regarding many initiatives underway at GT. At the time of this announcement, the sitting president is G.P. “Bud” Peterson; however, he has announced his retirement effective the summer of 2019. Melinda will therefore be working alongside the new president, announced on June 13, 2019 (https://www.usg.edu/news/release/cabrera_named_president_of_the_georgia_institute_of_technology). A GTAB at-large member serves for three years, and this term may be extended for a second term. Melinda’s appointment is effective July 1, 2019 and will run through June 30, 2022.

Following Melinda’s graduation from Georgia Tech, she obtained a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering from Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) in 1992 and an MBA from Northeastern University in 2000. Melinda served on active duty in the U.S. Air Force for four years, Air Force Reserves for four more years, then moved into several engineering leadership positions both in the commercial sector and DoD industry. Melinda co-authored a patent in infrared guidance technology and authored a provisional patent application on improving the signal-to-noise ratio of photodiodes using nanotechnology. During her career, she was promoted to engineering management and became a DoD program manager. Over the last 30 years Melinda has volunteered her time and resources to Georgia Tech, including: GT Mentor Jackets, her 10th and 25th Reunion teams, the GT Military Affinity Group (GTMAG), and the GT Student Assistance program. In addition, she is a member of the Georgia Tech Founders’ Council, and has completed all her coursework toward a doctorate in academic leadership (Ed.D.), solidifying her candidacy for this position.

As an at-large member of GTAB, Melinda intends to work closely with the other GTAB members to embed the institute’s core values into meaningful goals designed to serve the entire cadre of students, employees, and educators. Her plans should help assure Georgia Tech’s prominence well into the future, remarking, “I have always believed in Georgia Tech, its legacy and its mission to cultivate engineers and scientists for the professional world.”
