First quarterly newsletter: An expert report on the latest activities in the EW Community. Warrior Support Solutions is working to advance the practice and art of deploying EW/EMSO capabilities in all military operations to achieve superiority throughout the electromagnetic spectrum.
EMS Domain Workshops – Sponsored by the EW EXCOM
Hosted by Mr. Brian Clark with CSBA (http://csbaonline.org). Topic: Doctrines of Russia & China – We continue to participate in discussions with this working group of thought leaders who are advancing doctrine, policy and recommendations for strategy in the Electromagnetic Spectrum.
Air Force Strategic Development, Planning, & Experimentation (SDPE) Office
This organization sponsored the 2018 SDPE Strategy Information Meeting (SIM), 5-9 Feb 18, at the Smart Center, Joint Base Andrews, MD, to gain Industry insight and provide updates in the following key technical areas of interest:
- Air Force Capability Development Update
- Enterprise Capability Collaboration Teams (ECCT) Activities
- Air Superiority 2030 ECCT Status Update
- Multi-Domain Command & Control (MC2) ECCT Out brief & Next Steps
- Introduction to the new EW/EMS Superiority ECCT & Next Steps
- SDPE Experimentation Campaigns & Other Efforts
We attended this event, and in the MC2 ECCT debrief we didn’t hear that this team was working toward ways to ensure access to the spectrum, thereby ensuring C2 (In other words, Denial of Spectrum Denial https://warriorss.com/warrior-support-solutions-llc-published-in-atq/). We learned of their plan to create a SHOC: Shadow (Air) Operations Center, which will experiment with compelling technologies to enable MC2 (author’s note: We would love to set up a comms jammer outside the SHOC, to see how well the SHOC can operate in a denied spectrum environment).
47th Annual Collaborative EW Symposium
March 13-15, 2018 | Pt. Mugu, California
We heard about “Collaborative EW” at this symposium, which is the combination of non-kinetic capabilities to achieve effects that are greater than any one capability could provide alone, or by simply interoperating. We received a very impressive presentation on the Navy’s progress on Decisive Strike, a Live Virtual Constructive (LVC) exercise, demonstrating advanced modeling and simulation for evaluation of Naval EW systems.

This event provided an opportunity to visit with leaders at the USAF EW SPO. Steve shared the stage with Col. Ryan “Rhino” Connor, Chief, AF/A5RE. Steve briefed where EW is going, and Rhino briefed the status of the EW/EMS Superiority ECCT.
